Kona Beer, a local Hawaiian beer company, is preparing to launch its first keg keg on March 20, 2017 in Maui.
The beer will be sold at retail outlets and in a limited-time, limited-run beer garden.
“We’re really excited to launch the keg at the Kona Brewing Company, and we’re really hoping to grow our local brand and really help our local beer community grow and thrive,” said Katie Loehr, the owner of Kona Brewery.
Kona is owned by a family that has been producing beer in the Maui area since the mid-1970s.
The family has been brewing beer in their home for more than 70 years, and their beer is enjoyed by Hawaiians, tourists, and tourists alike.
The keg is a partnership between Kona, Kona Family Brewers, and the Maukau Family Brewery in Honolulu.
K-Brews is the official name for the limited-edition beer.
“This is the first time in history that Hawaii has had a brewery with the sole purpose of serving the local community,” said Loehre.
“It’s our mission to bring our beloved Maui to the rest of the world.
It’s the perfect opportunity for Kona to make a splash in Hawaii, and it’s also a way for us to get out and make a real impact on the culture of the state.”
Loehn said the kegs will be released at a discounted rate and will be available for sale at the brewery for $5 each.
Each keg will have three taps that will be filled with four different beers.
The limited-release beer garden is set to open in the spring of 2021.
The first kegs of K-brews beer will go on sale on March 14.
“Kona is a small family-owned business that has always been focused on the health of Hawaiians,” said Kona President and CEO Jeffery Meeks.
“Our beer will help bring a touch of Hawaiian hospitality and Hawaiian culture to the Hawaiian Islands and the world.”
The K-Bars is a family owned restaurant chain that serves the Hawaiian community in the Waikiki area.
The chain opened in 2016.
Koonaina Brewery, which is located on the island of Oahu, opened its first brewery in 2015.
The brewery was inspired by the ancient Hawaiian art of the kona and has been selling Hawaiian beer and craft beer for the past 30 years.
“When we decided to build our first brewery, it was a very emotional time for us,” said owner Scott Wohlers.
“I was very excited about opening our first Hawaiian brewery because of the opportunity to share this culture with people that have never experienced it.
It was a little bit of a wild goose chase, but I felt it was something that we could share with the community.”
The kegs and garden will be located at the Maule Street location of Koonainas Kona Restaurant, located at 2933 Koonona Ave.
The taproom and keg garden will open for tours on March 15.
